Keeping land empty and trees in the ground
December and January I spent keeping this piece of land empty and keeping this tree and others in the ground (Middlepoint, Pendennis, Cornwall. Approaching it as an art project, it is weird there would be no traces, in the most opportune outcome. And I was just a tiny part in a web of people many of whom I didn't know existed. The environmental officer who did the first assessment which halted the orginal planning for 35 luxury flats, the man with his dog who noticed oil seeping through the seawall, the person who climbed through a window in the cottage and started living here over a decade ago and many others. Working on it took as much of my heart as any artistic stuff I've ever done.
The planning application was turned down on the 22nd of March
